Policies
Our policies provide a clear framework for how we operate, to ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability in everything we do.
Below you can find the statutory policies required by law, as well as additional policies that reflect our values and approach to supporting our children and young people, staff, and the wider community. Each document is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure it remains compliant with current legislation and best practice. By setting out clear expectations, our policies help to create safe, inclusive and supportive environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Statutory governance documents can be found on our Statutory and Company Documentation page, and school policies or addendums can be found on the policy pages of our school websites.

CYC Coordinated School Admissions Consultation 2027 to 2028
In line with the School Admissions Code 2021, City of York Council hold a coordinated admission consultation on behalf of participating schools within York and the School Admission Authorities.
This year’s Admissions Consultation is being held by City of York Council and involves a number of Academy Trusts with schools within the city. The consultation will run between 8th October and 21st November 2025. The consultation includes the admission policies and planned number of places available at each participating school/MAT in the year(s) of entry 2027-2028.
All documents can be found in their draft (pre-determined) form at www.york.gov.uk/admissionsconsultation during the consultation period.
Responses are being collated by the online surveys, schools, trusts, parents/carers and any interested parties may all contribute to the Admission Consultation. Anyone wishing to contribute is invited to go to www.york.gov.uk/admissionsconsultation and complete the appropriate survey online.
Any comments received regarding a Multi Academy Trust policy or PAN change will be forwarded to the relevant Trust, who are their own admission authority, to consider within their own admission consultation or determination. Please be aware that if there are no proposed changes an admission authority may not be holding a consultation.
Following the consultations, each admission authority will formally set (‘determine’) their admission arrangements for admission in 2027 – 2028 by 28 February 2026. Determined policies will be on the City of York Council website by 15 March 2026 after which objections can be raised.
All documents can be found in their draft (pre-determined) form at www.york.gov.uk/admissionsconsultation Determined policies for the 2026-27 can be found at https://www.york.gov.uk/SchoolAdmissionPolicies
If you require a paper copy of any document, you can request this from education@york.gov.uk or 01904 551554.
Merger
On 1st September 2025, South York MAT and STAR MAT merged to create YLT (Yorkshire Learning Trust). As a newly merged Trust, we are committed to providing a stable and clear policy framework. To ensure continuity and maintain operational effectiveness during this transitional period, in some instances we are operating under a combination of existing policies carried forward from our previous organisations. These policies remain in effect until they are formally reviewed and adopted by YLT. We are working diligently to harmonise our practices and will be confirming a new set of unified Trust policies over the coming months. We appreciate your patience and will publish all updates regarding new and ratified policies promptly.
